Sawasdee Well Being Massage Therapist – My Journey

My journey to becoming a Massage Therapist began when I travelled back to Thailand after having lived in the UK for several years. After the long flight back to Thailand, I was clearly jetlagged, so I decided to visit a random Thai massage shop and have a massage a few hours later. The therapist walked on my legs and back for an hour, and all seemed normal.

But after returning to my hotel room, my legs and feet were swollen and became painful. The discomfort continued for a week and was getting worse, so I went to see a pharmacist and doctor, but neither could help. Eventually, I decided to see a massage therapist in my hometown and described what had happened. She explained that the previous therapist had blocked my body points and restricted my blood flow. I asked if she could help, and she said yes.

So, I started having treatment with her, and after a few sessions, I noticed my feet getting better and understood how amazingly a good massage can benefit people’s lives. I asked her to teach me so that I could help others, and she agreed. However, I did not have long left in Thailand, so I could not learn much at the time. Nevertheless, when I returned to the UK, I started slowly learning via videos while friends and colleagues allowed me to practice on them.

Although I wanted to start doing massages, I couldn’t, as I was not yet confident enough, lacked the business knowledge, and did not have anyone here in Exeter at the time to help me develop good experience. Four years after my massage incident, I decided to venture up to London in search of opportunities and to develop my experience with the intention to return after one year. However, it was easier said than done. I found a massage shop that gave me the opportunity, although with very little training, before the Covid-19 pandemic struck. Over time, I got to know other massage therapists, and we massaged and trained each other. As I continued practicing, I received positive feedback, but within myself, I never felt completely content, as the massage I had received in Thailand was more powerful.

Eventually, I visited a lady for treatment who was recommended by a friend, and many others had been praising her skills. Between treatments, we talked, and she showed me exactly what she was doing. One day, she asked me to give her a massage, which I did. Upon completion, she explained that I was good but could be much better, and she offered to give me training. She felt my prominent good energy, and I asked her to teach me properly so that I could use my skills to help others. She taught me the techniques for two hours, but it took me six months of practice to become confident enough to tailor treatments to individual clients.

I then worked in London for three and a half years as a Massage Therapist. Now, I am back in Exeter, my hometown in the UK, with a strong desire, powerful skills, and confidence that I am proud to represent Thai massage – the best massage in the world, delivering good health benefits to individuals who need my help. I am always striving for excellence through professionalism and quality service for all my clients.
